Six centuries of winemaking
The creator of such iconic Tuscan wines as Tignanello and Solaia, the Antinori family has been committed to the art of winemaking since 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri, the Florentine Winemakers’ Guild. The 26 generations of winemaking history have now been opened to the public through the dazzling Antinori nel Chianti Classico winery and museum complex in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, Loc. Bargino.

Hallowed environs
A unique example of contemporary architecture that fits seamlessly into the landscape of the rolling Tuscan hills, the Antinori winery is as unusual as it is fascinating as a structure. Its most spectacular feature is an elegant spiral staircase that connects the building’s three levels. The cellar, meanwhile, has more of a feel of a place of worship than a place for storing wines. This is a place where visitors will be seduced by the finest Tuscan wines, the Marchesi Antinori classic and contemporary art collections, the charming Rinuccio 1180 restaurant and plenty more besides.

Timeless Tuscan hills
There are various ways to enjoy your visit. It would certainly be worth booking in at the restaurant, Rinuccio 1180. This superb bistro-style restaurant is located on the roof of the winery. The views of the timeless Tuscan hillside from here are simply breathtaking, from the olive groves to the historic churches to the noble vineyards planted with Chianti Classico’s signature grape variety, Sangiovese.

A bespoke experience
For a guided winery experience, Antinori offers three different tours designed to give you a personalised experience that suits your interests. With the Winery Made to Measure Tour, for example, you may choose from options including a tasting of Antinori’s icon wines in the stylish tasting room above the Barriccaia hall; a visit to the historic cellars in Badia a Passignano followed by a tour of the new winery; or a range of gastronomic experiences with menus designed by a Michelin-star chef and meals being served in various achingly beautiful Chianti Classico locations.
