A showpiece Barrossa estate
With a proud legacy dating back to 1851, Seppeltsfield is Australia’s iconic wine estate, a true showpiece that attracts many thousands of wine lovers from across the globe each year. The estate may have earned an unsurpassed reputation for its nectar-like fortified ‘Para’ (Sherry-style) wines but these days an equally impressive range of red and white varietal wines also passes through its restored 1888 gravity-fed cellar.

 Tasting history
No visit would be complete without seeing the Centennial Collection – a priceless unbroken lineage of Tawny of every vintage from 1878 to the current year. One of a variety of novel tour-and-tasting options allows you to taste wine from your birth year straight from the barrel. While the estate is unique in the world in releasing a 100-year-old single-vintage wine every year, Seppetlsfield also boasts a superb collection of Apera (a cross between Fino to Oloroso Sherry styles), Tokay and Muscat, all held in extensive Solero cellars.

VIP treatment
Tastings are held in four separate circular tasting ‘PODS’, creating a unique setting and ambience during your visit, while for Very Important People – and, in one way or another, aren’t we all? – there’s a swish mezzanine lounge where you can enjoy private, luxury tastings guided by dedicated staff.

A lunch to remember

Seppeltsfield aims “to be the most desirable Epicurean destination for tourists worldwide”. Be sure to make a booking at the on-site Fino restaurant. Described by one Aussie food critic as “the best place in Australia for a long lunch”, Fino offers four dazzling dining experience inspired by architecture. Choose to eat in the opulent fireside Dining Room, an enclosed garden-view Veranda, on the European-style garden Terrace and a stunning Cellar space carved from original bluestone wine tanks.
