Maison Trimbach
Alsace, France
There is no more colourful place in autumn than the slopes of the Vosges mountains. These Alsace hillsides are adorned with vineyards with leaves the shade of every colour from canary yellow to russet red. Autumns are warm, bright and sunny making this the perfect destination for hiking and biking holidays. Originally from Switzerland and working in nearby silver mines, it was in 1626 that Jean Trimbach made his way to Riquewihr, to become a winegrower and winemaker. For the 12th generation the soil remains the key to success. They are surrounded by a mosaic of exceptional terroirs; limestone, marls, sandstone, gneiss and granite. Truly a geologists heaven! The cellar door is open to the public but appointments are preferred.
