Fratelli Vineyards
Maharashtra , India
The lush green vineyards of Fratelli Wines in the town of Akluj, southern India, comprise the largest privately owned wine estate in the country. Founded in 2007, they also provide a secluded oasis where guests can roam the nearly 100 hectares by foot or Jeep and enjoy traditional Maharashtrian cuisine alongside not-so-traditional wines. Named after its seven founding brothers, from Italian and Indian families, and guided until this year by a Tuscan oenologist, fusion is in Fratelli’s makeup. The signature red, ‘Sette,’ blends Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon in the cutting edge winery, then ages it in the finest French oak – it is designed to suit regional delicacies as well as the selection of European-inspired cheeses made locally, both served onsite. Make a long weekend of it by staying in one of the four colourful bedrooms and sit back to watch the sunset.
