Aleš Kristančičis is well-known for his larger-than-life personality, brilliant winemaking, and passion for biodynamic farming. The winery, within sight of the Italian border, was founded by his family in 1820. Already renowned by the 20th century, it has become regarded as one of the leading wineries to have emerged from behind the Iron Curtain. Largely focused on the production of white wines using varieties such as Rebula and Pinot Grigio, Movia is especially well known for its high-quality sparkling wine, 'Puro' - so named because it is the purest expression of Brda's terroir.
