Bodega Colomé
Salta, Argentina
- #40 World's Best Vineyard 2024
There’s high altitude winemaking and then there’s highest altitude winemaking. At 3,111m above sea level, Bodega Colomé’s ‘Altura Máxima’ vineyard is at the extreme end, making a walk amongst the clouds a reality for guests of the estate’s boutique mountain ranch. Founded in 1831 by Salta’s last Spanish governor, Argentina’s oldest working winery is now fully biodynamic, its organic farm and orchards supplying the onsite restaurant, which you can enjoy following one of four wine tasting options. The full ‘Colomé Experience’ encompasses the museum designed by and for American artist James Turrell, but you’ll want to stay longer to enjoy horse riding across the Calchaquí Valley, swimming, tennis and rooms surrounded by lavender gardens.
