The awe-inspiring sights of the Calchaquí Valley range from the subtropical highlands of the Yunga Forest to the red-rocked canyons of Quebrada de las Conchas – not to mention some of the highest altitude vineyards in the world, perpetually soaked in sun. Trek through these on horse, bike or foot with Bodega El Esteco before returning to its traditional farmstead, founded in 1892, for wine and cheese. A colonial-style mansion surrounded by gardens, the Hotel Patios de Cafayate contains 32 rooms decorated with hand-woven fabrics and rustic furniture, plus a magnificent outside pool and spa offering yoga, massage and wine-based therapies. From October to March, roaring bonfires accompany the local cuisine of La Rosa restaurant following vineyard tours and wine tastings, in the ‘Magical Nights’ experience.
