Clos Apalta
Colchagua Valley, Chile
- #79 World's Best Vineyards 2024
Wooden staves reminiscent of a wine barrel stick out of lush green hillside encased by native forests at this ultra-modern, gravitational winery where Old and New Worlds have happily collided. All visitors can explore the organic and biodynamic vineyards planted with some of Chile’s oldest vines, imported from Bordeaux in the early twentieth century, before heading into the winery for one of three types of tasting accompanied by local cheeses and homemade bresaola. Overnight guests stay in one of four luxurious villas, each with a private balcony and garden, a base from which to explore the 650-hectare estate by foot, horse or mountain bike. With a picnic to sustain you throughout the day, return to the hotel to replenish with its pool, yoga and fine dining.
