Groot Constantia
Constantia, South Africa
Nestled into the Constantia Valley, on the eastern side of Table Mountain, Groot Constantia is South Africa’s first established wine farm, founded in 1865. Looking out onto the Atlantic Ocean at False Bay, the classic Cape Dutch homestead is yours to explore on a ‘Visitors Route’ experience, including the wine and cultural history museum featuring works by local artists and cellars that are home to ‘Grand Constance,’ the estate’s revival of the sweet wine that made this region famous in the nineteenth century. Self-guided tours are assisted by an audio app, and pairings come in the form of chocolate and wine tasting sessions, the Jonkershuis restaurant serving traditional South African and Cape Malay cuisine in various fetching locations across the grounds.
