Napa Valley, US

The stately Inglenook estate in Rutherford, California dates back to 1879 but its weighty reputation is thanks to its more recent revival by the film-producing Coppola family, who bought it in 1975. Aided by a Bordeaux expert, the wines are inspired by the French model and guests can taste their way through the collection in the newly redesigned Athenaeum or underneath the pergolas on the courtyard, looking onto vineyards and the decorative pool punctuated by fountains. Model boats are available for children to float in the waters while the adults sample the wines. An ‘Estate Library Experience’ takes you through the core range; upgrade to a ‘Salon Tasting Flight’ to enjoy these down in the cellars with cheese and charcuterie. A ‘Heritage Tasting’ includes the flagship red, ‘Rubicon,’ while bespoke options are executed with flair.
