Zuccardi Valle de Uco will be the first Vineyard to enter the new ‘Best of the Best’ hall of fame

...Mendoza! After a successful return to in-person events in 2021, with The World’s Best Vineyards going to Schloss Johannisberg in the Rheingau wine-growing region of Germany, last September, we can now reveal that our destination for the 2022 announcement is Mendoza, Argentina. Here’s everything you need to know…

World’s Best Vineyards will reveal its Top 50 list, as well as the top wineries in Australasia, Asia, Africa, Europe, North America and South America, at a special event in Mendoza on 26 October 2022.

The event will be hosted at Zuccardi Valle de Uco – the number one on the Top 50 list for the past three years (2019-2021). Zuccardi will be the first Vineyard to enter the new ‘Best of the Best’ hall of fame, formed of all the Vineyards that have topped the annual vote of the World’s 50 Best Vineyards which are no longer eligible to be voted on new editions of the list.

Andrew Reed, Managing Director Wine and Exhibitions at William Reed, says: “We’re delighted to be back on the road again, spreading the word about wine tourism. We’re incredibly grateful to the Government of Mendoza for their support, and we hope the event will raise the profile of these amazing destinations.”

Mendoza wineries have enjoyed great success in the World’s Best Vineyards list already – with Zuccardi at no1 again last year, and four other wineries in the Top 50: Catena Zapata (no7), Trapiche (no18), El Enemigo Wines (no24), and SuperUco (no42).

We are looking forward to bringing the World’s Best Vineyards to the prestigious region of Mendoza to announce the new Top 50 list in October.

Dr Nora Vicario, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Province of Mendoza, explains: “Here you can breathe the wine and its culture, unlike anywhere else.”

The World’s Best Vineyards, launched in 2019, showcases the very best of wine tourism and aims to elevate the visitor experience in the vineyards and surrounding areas. The Voting Academy comprises more than 500 leading wine experts, sommeliers and travel journalists who submit their nominations based on factors such as the quality of the overall experience, ambiance, cuisine, activities, views, staff and value for money. The results are then collated and converted into the Top 50 list.

Notes to editors:
The awards ceremony will take place on 26 October at Zuccardi Valle de Uco in Mendoza, Argentina and online at 18.00 CET.

The Top 50 list is compiled from all of the nominations by the global academy of voters. The world is split into geographical regions, each headed up by an acknowledged expert as the Academy Chair. Each Academy Chair is responsible for recruiting 36 wine and travel experts. Each member of the Voting Academy must vote for 7 vineyards and this year, due to the restrictions on international travel, these could be from within and outside their specific region. There is no pre-determined checklist of criteria or predefined list to choose from – each vote is a nomination for a vineyard experience open to the public that they deem to truly be the best in the world.

The World’s Best Vineyards 2022 will be hosted by the Government of Mendoza. For the latest information on wine tourism in Mendoza visit https://mendoza.tur.ar/
