Tenuta Cavalier Pepe produce a wide range of wines from Irpinia and Campania: red, white, rosé, three sparkling wines, a passito wine and cold pressed, un-filtered extra virgin olive oil.
A Green and Pleasant LandThe hills of the Apennines in Southern Italy have a fantastic climate and good weather almost all year round: sunny and breezy especially in the evenings. Here Cavalier Pepe Estate farms 70 hectares of vineyards, twelve hectares of olive groves and hazelnut groves. A cozy cellar, a panoramic restaurant and accommodation all surrounded by nature; this is a complete destination of cultural tourism, respectful of its heritage and the landscape.
Your visitThe green and rugged hills of Irpinia are just a stone’s throw from the buzzing metropolis of Naples. It’s an ideal place for a day visit, but with such glorious countryside, why not stay longer? Spend relaxing days at the cozy residence ‘L'Antica Fattoria’ with its enchanting views of the vineyards of Aglianico and Falanghina. Take lunch in ‘La Veduta’ restaurant with its splendid views and authentic Italian cuisine thoughtfully paired with wines. Discover this verdant region walking through vineyards and centuries-old olive and hazelnut groves. In Autumn, book ahead for grape-treading in traditional wooden barrels or wait until November when the olive harvest starts. For gourmands there are also Irpinia truffle days and cheese days. This rich and bountiful province is just waiting to be discovered.
The winesRed wines are predominantly from Taurasi DOCG (100% Aglianico). Their flagship Reserve red, ‘La Loggia del Cavaliere’, is not picked until early November and is matured for over 5 years before release. Dark, brooding, complex red and black fruit, antique rose, musk and leather. For instant gratification there’s the much more approachable Irpinia Rosso DOC, a lightly aromatic blend of Aglianico and Sangiovese. Whites include Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Falanghina, and for those wishing to celebrate there is an elegant zero dosage Spumante (Metodo Classico) made from a trio of native white grapes.
