Sunset is the most magical time to witness the classical charm of Achaval Ferrer’s Finca Bella Vista, where many of the vines are over 100 years in age. Located in the foothills of the Andes, near the Mendoza and Tunuyán rivers, not only does the light fade idyllically behind the mountains but winery guests are simultaneously served ‘Teanners’: afternoon tea from 5pm until the sun goes down, followed by wine. And thanks to those mature vines, the wines boast phenomenal intensity and concentration, the majority of land across the three vineyard sites planted to Malbec but with Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon too. These impactful reds demand food alongside, so be sure to visit the restaurant, and perhaps give the sweet red Malbec (‘Dolce’) and the estate’s own olive oil a go while there.
