A large skylight in the ceiling of the ultra-modern Alfa Crux winery allows a cross of sunlight to bear down on centre of the barrel room. Designed by the Bórmida Yanzón Studio, the architecture is no less dramatic from afar, with a seemingly floating roof heralding this supremely contemporary project by the Agostino family, amid the Andean scenery. The mountains can be viewed through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the bistro-style Crux Cocina, and from the reflections in the pools of water artfully surrounding the building, but you may well be preoccupied by Irish chef Edward Holloway’s gastronomic prowess landing on the table in front of you – long lunches taking in the views, food and exceptional range of wines provide a total escape from the rest of the world.
