The natural wines coming out of Ernesto Catena’s Uco Valley winery faithfully represent the ethos within, where the organic and biodynamic agriculture of the vineyards and broader farm works with nature rather than against it. The fourth generation winemaker and son of Argentinian giant Nicolás Catena also goes by the title ‘Wine Poet’ in his mission to have wine seen as an art form just like painting or writing, and the estate is full of stylish quirks (and the odd classic motor). Visitors can explore the farm by horse and/or carriage, learning its practices and appreciating the pre-Columbian-style architecture (not forgetting to say hello to the llamas, chickens, pigs and other residents) before sampling its beautifully decorated bottles of wines alongside homegrown produce on the terrace; gaze onto the blazing stone barbecue from your hammock, a peaceful lake in the background rolling into the mighty Andes beyond.
