Ojo De Agua
Mendoza, Argentina
Ojo de Agua is a Nineteenth Century estate that initially earned acclaim for its thoroughbred stallions until Swiss artist, musician and all-round character Dieter Meier took over in 1996 and started making organic wines. The full range is overseen by revered Argentinian winemaker Marcelo Pelleriti and incorporates sparkling, white, rosé and, of course, deep red examples that match gloriously with the prime grass-fed beef served at the traditionally-inspired restaurant, reared on Meier’s Pampa ranch. Elsewhere, he produces honey, nuts and chia seeds, with additional vinous projects in Patagonia and Ibiza, and restaurants across Europe. Visits to this mountainous estate offer an insight into his vibrant, spirited and highly tasty world through winery tours, picnics, tastings and satisfying meals.
