Ver Sacrum Wines
Mendoza, Argentina
Created by three friends in 2012, Ver Sacrum is tiny in scale but already making waves across the wine world. Despite its historic old manor house dating back to around 1865, this is a thoroughly modern winery not just due to its low interventionist techniques but the Mediterranean grape varieties it uses (including Marsanne, Roussanne, Grenache, Mencía and Nebbiolo – none of which are particularly common in Argentina). Bookings are essential if you’d like a tour, which all include an introduction to Ver Sacrum’s philosophy and can also incorporate the atelier of resident artist Gonzalez Antón and La Cayetana 1865 restaurant – a gastronomic destination in itself offering a warm welcome, intimate atmosphere, plentiful wines and gorgeously presented, home-grown and seasonal fare.
