Château Qanafar
Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
All of Château Qanafar’s vineyards are located less than 10 minutes from the winery in the village of Khirbet Qanafar, amongst the forested foothills of Mount Barouk, about 60km from the Lebanese capital of Beirut. It is ancient winemaking terrain, but this boutique winery was only formally established in 2009 after chemist George Naim produced his first wines in 2005 as a retirement project. Now one of the Bekaa Valley’s most highly regarded estates, it is run by George’s son Eddy with the help of his mother and sister, who personally lead detailed tours of the vineyards, winery and cellars before tastings, hence why bookings are essential.
