Exiled from Spain after the Spanish Civil War, Enrique Forner initially forged his wine career in France, even buying two châteaux in Bordeaux. Inspired by the historic link between Bordeaux and Rioja, when he returned to Spain in 1968 he decided to found his winery there. He returned determined to bring modern viticultural and winemaking methods to the region. Since 1970, Marqués de Cáceres has combined this energy for innovation and technology without losing sight of Rioja's core traditions and styles.
