A protected environment and organic vineyard
There is a long tradition of winemakers from great European wine regions seeking to broaden their horizons and found new enterprises in new terroirs. Unsurprisingly, many of them find what they are after in Argentina. The combination of Mendoza's pristine environmental conditions, optimum growing conditions and sheer intensity of the fruit and wines is an irresistible lure. In 2005, the Bonnie family, owners of Château Malartic-Lagravière and Château Gazin Rocquencourt in Bordeaux, looked for their very own piece of this unique setting. The result was Bodega DiamAndes in the heart of the Uco Valley, a prestigious sub-region of Mendoza.

The wines

The estate's philosophy combines the winemaking knowledge and traditions of Bordeaux in a way that respects and enhances the elegance of the local terroir. Located over 1,000 metres above sea level in the foothills of the Andes, the 130 hectares of vines are farmed organically and by hand to ensure that the grapes reach the highest quality. The greater natural balance this creates in the plants helps ensure the intensity and balance of the fruit characteristics before they even reach the winery. The winery too was designed to harmonise with its surroundings and leave a minimal impact. The building is thermally isolated and makes extensive use of natural light to make its energy usage highly economical.

Your visit

The winery has been welcoming visitors since it opened its doors in 2011. Guests from all over the world can be assured of a deluxe experience, whether it be admiring its unique architecture, the beautiful Andean landscape, sampling delicious gastronomic delights and, of course, tasting an exquisite range of premium wines. Visits to the winery include a full tour of the winemaking facilities or vineyards, including an in-depth guide to the production process and guided tasting. The 'Blend Class Academy' takes visitors on a further journey to discover the characteristics of different varieties and how winemakers combine them to create their blends. The Franco-Argentine blend is also evident at DIAM's Bar & Bistrot, a high-end restaurant mixing Argentine produce with a touch of French gastronomic flair.

Led by chef Santiago Orozco Russo, the team creates original and perfectly crafted dishes sourced from the organic garden and local suppliers. The restaurant offers four menus a year, each specially designed to highlight the season and a label from the DiamAndes range. The restaurant cellar also houses a collection of older vintages including those of the winery's ultra-premium wine, Clos de los Siete.
