Maipo Valley
Ethos: Art, architecture and affluence at the foot of the Chilean Andes

Michel Friou
Red Bordeaux blends of unparalleled quality and excellence.
Where are we: Almaviva is located in Puente Alto in the Maipo Valley, Chile. Long recognised as one of the best terroirs in the southern hemisphere for Cabernet Sauvignon. Here 65 hectares of vines have been set aside for the collaboration of two wine giants; Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and Eduardo Guilisasti Tagle, Chairman of Vĩna Concha Y Toro. This is the first winery in Chile created under the French Château concept; exceptional terroir, a single unique bodega and one technical team – the three of which are dedicated exclusively to the production of one fine wine: Almaviva.
Be our guest: Splash out and book a personalised tour; a unique chance to understand and taste the world's most renowned Franco-Chilean wine and to encounter two worlds and two cultures, French and Chilean, inspired by two exceptional legacies. Enrich the senses and cerebrum with French savoir-faire, where every detail reflects the pursuit of perfection. Begin with a warm welcome in the garden of the manor house where the history of Almaviva and its origins are introduced, then move to the vineyards to explore the unique terroir and pay homage to the vines that date back nearly 50 years.
Combining art and science: The winery is renowned for its perfect integration of both aesthetic design and functionality. Built from native wood from southern Chile and interlaced with the warmth of other indigenous materials, this contemporary marvel with its undulating, curving roof simulates the silhouette of the nearby Andes, settling the building within its natural landscape. Inside the magnificent bodega, discover each stage of the winemaking process, including time-honoured barrel maturation in the 'Grand Chai' or barrel vault. Visit the Wine Library, where unique stories behind Almaviva's emblematic vintages can be uncovered, and don't forget to check out the movie theatre.
Taste the divine: Visits (by prior appointment only) culminate with a tasting of selected wines and vintages in the charming manor house.
There are three different tastings:
The Almaviva Experience, which includes the tasting of two wines
The Almaviva Premium, which includes the tasting of three wines
The Almaviva Vertical, which includes a vertical tasting of three different vintages of Almaviva. Typically a tour lasts between 1.5 and two hours.
