Philosophical wine: Brooks Wines Estate is dry-farmed and proudly biodynamic. More than 10 percent of their total effective land area is set aside as a nature reserve including land for insectaries, hedgerows, flowering cover crops, bee hives and perennial plantings. This thought-provoking winery is located in Eola-Amity Hills AVA in the heart of the Willamette Valley, Oregon. Founded in 1998 by visionary Jimi Brooks, the estate is celebrated for its commitment to sustainable, organic and biodynamic farming, focusing primarily on Pinot Noir and Riesling.

In the beginning: The oldest plantings on the estate date back to a vineyard planted in 1973 by Don Byard. Jimi Brooks sought it out for its old-vine Riesling of which 10 acres are still on their original rootstocks – and so Brooks Estate was founded in 1998. Sadly, Brooks passed away just six years later and his sister now serves as managing director of this Demeter Biodynamic Certified vineyard and winery with 18 acres of Riesling, Pinot Noir, Muscat, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Gris situated at an elevation of 650 feet.

Mooch with your pooch: Panoramic views aside this is a dog friendly winery. The hospitality is gracious; you and your hound can enjoy a variety of immersive experiences such as vineyard and guided winery tours, and for humans; wine flights and monthly tasting menus that highlight ingredients from the biodynamic kitchen garden, the henhouse and local producers. Brooks even have their own in-house kitchen and chef. There are year-round events for both wine lovers and culinary enthusiasts including cooking, gardening classes and concerts. Family-friendly and dog-friendly, this is a top destination in Oregon wine country.

And there's more... 2025 sees the introduction of a rotating line up of artisans, each bringing their own creativity, flavour and story to Brooks for a three-month stay. From ethical skincare and Haitian spices to small-batch cider, cheese and coffee, every artisan has one thing in common: a commitment to something bigger than the product itself. These partners walk the same path as Brooks – one that values sustainability, equity and community above all else.
